In Their Shoes: Monitoring and Motivating Your Moises'

Please watch the Entire following powerful video and think about the questions below.  If you have time, please feel free to share and discuss at a PLC or team meeting.  Together we can make ALL students feel welcome and successful.

*Take time to find out what your students know and CAN do and go from there.

-Do you reference your Can Do descriptors/rubric when planning?

* Be clear and explain vocabulary.  Give them language if they don't have it or help them find/learn/understand the words using visuals, sentence stems, and repetition if needed.
-Are you flexible and responsive when questions come up in class that may deviate away from your specific plan or objective for the day but is a teachable moment?
-Do you anticipate tricky vocabulary or plan for words with multiple meanings ahead of time to provide clarification and understanding?

*Take the time to show you care and are there to help.  Give them confidence and make them feel important and respected to lower their affective filter to create a safe and caring learning environment.
-Think about a time when you saw a shy/new learner or ELL experience confidence in the classroom?
-How was your teaching as well as the student impacted by this?
